Highway Safety
Taking care of yourself and fellow visitors.
As our main focus in this directory is
to show you around the US Hwy 192 area. We also think that it
remains our duty to inform you of a few items that are pertinent to
your safety when visiting the area. --- --- As a main artery that cuts thru Central Florida from west of Walt
Disney World to the Atlantic Coast, US192 can be especially
challenging for any traveller.
It is a very busy road. In fact is is one of the most visited roads
anywhere...
Driving
Keep in mind that the whole 'World' converges in an area like
Kissimmee.
Drivers from many different countries may be on the road at the same
time as you are. Although they are driving perfectly legally, they
may be used to completely different traffic systems and (to them) be
on the wrong side of the road. Please drive with care and
consideration at all times...
This can create confusion and hesitation on the part of all drivers,
not to mention that some may be lost and/or searching for their
hotel. Others may be Sight Seeing and therefore liable to suddenly
making a decision to 'Stop and Shop'.
Factor in some impatience with a fellow driver and you have all the
makings of a potential accident.
Always obey the traffic rules and speed limits.
If lost, pull off the highway and get you bearings. Most
people really don't realize that going below the speed of the
traffic is generally the cause of most accidents.
Always plan your trip and carry a map with you referring to it
constantly via. your co-pilot.
Crossing the Street
Though the "Beautivacation Project"
has added three-lanes in both directions from US27 to Hwy. 535, it
is always recommended that you cross the highway using the clearly
marked 'pedestrian-walks'.
Even then use caution as Florida allows a right-turn at most
red-lights.
