This section is designed to help you
navigate through the many motels that dot the landscape of US Hwy
192, in particular East of I-4 to East & West Vine Street.
Of all the types of accommodations, Motels are the category that
most have patrons walking up to book a room without having made a
prior reservation.
The main concern seems to be getting a 'clean room at an
affordable rate'.
After getting a room key, have a quick inspection of the room, head back
to reception, make your decision and then hopefully proceed to
check-in.
Prices are low and quality can suffer.
Traditionally Motels are of two-story construction with basic
amenities that may include a continental breakfast. Most will be
close to a restaurant that provides breakfasts.
Many are including 'Mini-Refrigerators' and 'Mini-Microwaves' as
standard features. Like many of the area hotels, some motels are
starting to misuse the word 'Suites'. Not
that these are not full Suites in the truest sense of the word. If
they were full Suites they wouldn't be at Motel prices.
Most rooms will face a parking area on either side
of the property. This gives a feeling of being exposed. Some cater
strictly to vacationers (featuring heavily in British Travel
Brochures), while others cater to both vacationers and local
transients.
As a general rule of thumb Motels found within 5 miles of Walt
Disney World will more than likely cater to the vacationer market on
a strict budget than transients.
One thing worth mentioning is that since many are owner-operated
properties. You are more likely to strike up a personal relationship
with the owner at these type of locations.
