Eating on Arrival in the USA
You just spent 9+ hours on an airplane
and more at the airport before and after the flight.
You ate on the plane, but how long ago?
It may be late evening when you arrive at your resting place, will
you and the kids be hungry?
Most Hotels & Motels will have some kind of eatery facilities
in-house or nearby, but after checking in and settling into the room
you may well be exhausted and spaced-out enough to not be able to
handle this.
With a Rented Villa, Home or Condo, almost all of which are in the
Kissimmee, US Hwy 192 and US Hwy 27 areas, you may be miles away
from even a small gas station shop. So it's worth thinking about
this... Keep reading - the next section may help.
Note - You can not bring food stuffs into the U.S.A.
So, no
sandwiches. Don't risk it... however -
Tea and Coffee final answer.
After exhaustive enquiries, we can now give you a definitive answer
on bringing Tea and Coffee into the USA.
After sending a mail to the
US Customs Help system. Here is the answer...
You may bring Tea and Coffee in small 'personal' amounts into the US
as long as the packaging in 'factory sealed'.
A small jar of your favourite coffee or one of those sealed packages
of Tea Bags is OK. May be a good idea to take the outer box of the
tea just just to prove that they are from a manufacturing company.
Our editor even tested the theory. In May of 2006 after approaching
the staff at MCO, he was told that "yes these items were OK to
import into the US.

This solution may give you a moments breathing time after
checking in for your Car Rental.
You will turn the other way to everybody else and go against the
flow back to the central part of the airport. Here you will find a
number of options.
In the Central Concourse at MCO there are many Snack and Restaurant
places.
There are Burger King, Pizza Hut and others on the main floor and
others located around the building. Signs show the way.
Grab something to nibble on and a coffee. Take ‘5’, and look around.
MCO has 24 hour sandwich bars and carts scattered around at various
locations. Yes, they are expensive but this could solve a major
hunger problem (any food in airports is always expensive).
You will get a ‘first look’ at food in the USA… Huge sandwiches!

If you are going to Villa Rental locations in the South or East of

There are no Restaurant (or any other food) facilities in the
Arrival section of Sanford Airport. It's designed for you to simply
arrive & go.
After SFB Airport -
Travelling via. Interstate 4 (I4) -
Not recommended for 'First
Time USA Drivers'. Next section down..
If you choose to take Lake Mary Blvd, to the I4 Freeway -
Route page
You will pass a McDonald's hidden in the trees on the right 1 mile
after going under the Central Florida Greenway (SR-417) and another
about 8 miles from the airport. There are many other Fast Food and
Restaurant locations as you get closer to I4 approx.13 miles.
There is a 7-Eleven 3 miles from the SR-417 junction just after the
Rail Road tracks, on the right.
Most Gas Stations have mini-marts attached.

Travelling via. The Central Florida Greeneway SR-417 -
If you travel to Kissimmee on the Central Florida Greenway (Route
417) you are in a no-food zone right till you get off. A 45 minute
plus drive.

Extra info -
If you are staying in a Rented House or Condominium
You may be well away from the Restaurant
‘strip’ and another journey on your arrival night is probably out of
the question.
Use whatever pressure you can to talk to the letting agent for the
house. The people your Travel Agent/Company are sub-renting the
house from...
Pester your travel company or agent for their contact info.
Most have a system whereby you can pre-order a fridge full of
provisions, your Travel Agent in the UK you may not be able to book
this or be aware of it.
Speak to the Organ-Grinder not the Monkey.
Get that number and speak to them directly.
One good reason for needing more info on the house is if you need to
have mail order items pre-delivered. Use this as a lever to get the
information. (See Credit Card Note)
They won’t let you do this to the house but to the Letting Agency is
usually O.K. For this you must be able to contact them directly.
It's a good excuse for needing their number...
Note – They may not be able to
tell you the exact location of your home until very close to your
arrival date. At the very least, they will have the area...
When they do, have them e-mail their directions on getting to the
house/area to you.
They may be very different to the directions you get from your
travel company.
The hope is that they are local and have better knowledge and
experience.

Credit Card Note - If you do want to
order Mail Order items for delivery before you arrive, you will have
to contact your Credit Card company to add an additional mailing
address. Your card will not be authorized for delivery away from
your home address...
